Uninstalling ACME during pfsense CE 2.6-to-2.7 update?
-
Hey folks, I'd like to not have to reconfigure my ACME after updating to pfsense 2.7.x. Can I just keep ACME installed? I know that the upgrade guide recommends uninstalling all packages in general; I'm just posting here hoping that folks have had success keeping their ACME package through the upgrade process. Alternatively, is using the "Diagnostics > Backup & Restore" feature with package configuration a better way to balance a clean upgrade with minimal setup effort?
Or has too much changed since pfsense 2.6.0 and ACME 0.7.2, and I should just resign myself to setting up everything from scratch after the upgrade?
Thanks!

Yes, do it this way. Works perfectly and packages are installed automatically again after restoring the backup.

@curby normally package data is left behind if the package is uninstalled. A few like pfBlocker have a checkbox to remove it during uninstallation. I haven’t used ACME but I’d expect you can uninstall and reinstall after.
In general I uninstall “big” packages like pfB and Suricata but leave others like the VPN export or apcupsd which don’t really affect operations.
The upgrade process reinstalls all packages, it’s just a matter of libraries or PHP versions changing before that happens.

Thanks for the advice! I guess I'll uninstall my packages and then upgrade. I've already backed up my config.
